Leading figure of the Japanese art world from the Sh&#333;wa period to Heisei period. Studied under Yamamoto Kyujin. Member of the S&#333;gakai. Emeritus professor of the T&#333;ky&#333; Geijutsu Daigaku (T&#333;ky&#333; University of Arts). Recipient of the Bunka Kunsh&#333; (Order of Culture).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1927: Born in Ky&#333;to. His father was a designer of dyed textile and grandfather was a Maruyama painter.<\/li>\n<li>1940: Entered the Ky&#333;to Prefectural School of Art and Crafts (present-day Ky&#333;to City Dohda Senior High School of Arts).<\/li>\n<li>1944: Entered the T&#333;ky&#333; Fine Arts School (present-day T&#333;ky&#333; University of the Arts).<\/li>\n<li>1949: Graduated from the T&#333;ky&#333; Fine Arts School.
