DESCRIPTION<\/h2>\n

Uemura Atsushi (上村淳之, 1933-) is a Japanese-style painter and a member of the Japan Art Academy as well as emeritus professor at Kyoto City Univ. of Arts. He used to be the Vice President and a professor at Kyoto City University of Fine Arts. He was born in Kyoto as a son of Uemura Shōkō. He draws bird-and-flower paintings like his father did. Uemura Shōen<\/a> is his grandmother so that three generations of the family have been members of the Japan Art Academy continuously. He is serving as the director of SHŌHAKU ART MUSEUM where the works of three generations of his family from Shōen, Shōkō to Atsushi are exhibited. In 2013, he was chosen as a Person of Cultural Merits.<\/p>\n

He was born in Kyoto in 1933. Thanks to birth in an environment that his father is Uemura Shōkō and his grandmother is Uemura Shōen, he aimed to become a painter. After graduating from the Kyoto City University of Fine Arts, he worked on the production activity while serving as an assistant at the University and awarded the New Artist Prize at the 32nd<\/sup> Shinseisaku Association Exhibition. He became a fellow member of the Shinseisaku Association. When Sōgakai was established in 1974 as a separate organization from the Shinseisaku Association, he has been active in the newly established association. He received the Sōgakai Award in 1980 and became a member of the association in 1981. In 1984, he became a professor at Kyoto City University of Arts. In 1995, he received the Japan Art Academy Award with the exhibited work at the Sōgakai Exhibition. He became a member of the Japan Art Academy in 2002. In 2013, he was chosen as a Person of Cultural Merits. In 2020, he received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon. He is being active not only as a member of Sōgakai but also as a representative painter in the painting world of Japan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
