Current Popularity Ranking of Japanese Painters Active in Kyoto in the 18th Century

Itō Jakuchū, Ikeno Taiga, Yosa Buson, Maruyama Ōkyo, and Soga Shōhaku were all active painters in Kyoto in the 18th century.

According to the Heian Jinbutsushi, Maruyama Ōkyo was by far the most popular artist at that time, but what is their popularity ranking in modern Japan?

We asked around 30 of the participants in our survey to choose their favourite painter from the above five, and we have now produced a ranking of their popularity.
