DESCRIPTION

Hirai Baisen (平井楳仙, 1889-1969) was a Japanese-style painter. He was born in Kyoto pref. He studied painting techniques under Takeuchi Seihō. His specialty was figure paintings, flowers & birds paintings and landscape paintings.

  • 1889: Born in Kyoto pref.
  • 1906: Graduated from the Kyoto-shiritsu Bijutsu Kogei Gakko (Kyoto City Specialist School of Arts and Crafts).
  • 1907: Won a prize at the 1st Bunten exhibition.
  • 1908: Won a prize at the 2nd Bunten exhibition.
  • 1909: Won the 3rd prize at the 3rd Bunten exhibition.
  • 1910: Won the 3rd prize at the 4th Bunten exhibition.
  •        : Won a silver prize at the Japan-British Exhibition in London.
  • 1911: Received an honorable mention at the 5th Bunten.
  • 1912: Won the 3rd prize at the 6th Bunten.
  • 1914: Won the 3rd prize at the 8th Bunten.
